Franciacorta’s Finest Fizz
In the mid-1960s, Annamaria Clementi Zanella purchased a little house in the heart of a chestnut forest. A decade later, her son transformed the Ca’ del Bosco (house in the woods) into a state-of-the-art Franciacorta winery.
Franciacorta Wines
The glacial amphitheatre of rolling hills that forms the small Franciacorta appellation is home to the finest, traditional method sparkling wines of Italy. Chardonnay is the star grape here, blended with Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc.
The Ca' Del Bosco Method
Not content to follow traditional practices, Ca’ del Bosco devised a unique method to preserve the fragrant aromas and ensure longevity in their wines, while reducing sulphur. After gentle hand harvesting, grapes are carefully sorted and then washed in three whirlpool vats to eliminate any impurities. Once dried, they are vinified, bottled, aged on lees, and disgorged all in a completely oxygen-free process.
A tribute to family
Ca’ del Bosco’s best wine is named after Maurizio’s mother, Annamaria Clementi. Only made in the finest vintages from the best vineyard plots of the estate, this ultra-premium cuvée is aged nine years on its lees resulting in a highly complex, silky textured sparkling wine with impressive length.
An award-winning winery
Ca’ del Bosco has won a lot of awards during the years, making it one of the most awarded wineries in Italy.
Behind the Wines
Maurizio Zanella and The Marzotto Family
The meeting between young Maurizio Zanella and gentle Franciacorta, when his mother moved to Erbusco and planted the first vineyard, was the initial contact with what would be the love of his life. But it was after a trip to Champagne, to the famous maisons whose wine had always fascinated and inspired him, that Maurizio returned with the unshakable idea of making something similar. What was once a house in a chestnut wood became one of the most trailblazing wineries in Italy.
